Diro is a ceramic design company based in Oceanside, California. The
company was established in 2006 and began originally as a jewelry
design company known as Designs by Di (est.1997).
Artist Diane Roerig, "I have been a potter for almost 15 years, and
while I focus primarily on ceramics, I also design jewelry and sculpture.
I often incorporate found objects into my work and am particularly
drawn to rich earthy texture and alternative methods of firing
including raku, salt, and beach pit fires.
I draw inspiration for texture and form from natural surroundings like
the beach, desert, and mountains. The "treasures" I collect for my
work include anything from smooth rocks and sea glass, to interesting
odds and ends found at a swap meet, including old door knobs, coins,
rusty keys, wooden boxes, and drawer pulls."
